The Central Subway will connect the burgeoning neighborhoods in SOMA with Union Square, Chinatown and North Beach, relieving congestion in one of the most densely populated neighborhoods in the nation. The 1.7-mile extension includes one surface station and three underground stations at a total cost estimated at $1.3 billion (2009); revenue service is anticipated in 2019.

Judy led the architectural team in forming design criteria, code interpretation, developing station layouts, and coordinating with other disciplines, stakeholders and public agencies in the Preliminary Engineering phase.
